Timothy Roderick is filing a lawsuit against a nursing home in Athens, Tennessee after his mother died from COVID-19. 70-year old Iris Evans was admitted at the Life Care Center of Athens for rehabilitation for her pneumonia in April. Before she got there, Roderick said Evans tested negative for the virus.
“She was feeling better and ready to come home, wanting to come back and get back to living and unfortunately because we let her go to Life Care Center to rehab, she’d never come back home,” Roderick said.
Roderick claimed the center failed to provide PPE to prevent the spread of the virus, educate and screen personnel, and to monitor residents.

“They’re going to try to pass a law that they could not pass in February preventing a lawsuit like this to hold them accountable for not complying with simple CDC guidelines like wearing a mask,” Warren said.
“What the Governor was attempting to do is raise that standard to gross negligence meaning you have to have total disregard but at the same time he’s allowing professional sports teams to play,” added Attorney John Mark Griffith.
